Bitcoin Core Monitor for macOS · Last updated: 18 July 2026
Summary: Bitcoin Core Monitor collects no personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising. Your node credentials never leave your Mac. The developer receives no data from the app — of any kind.
What the app is
Bitcoin Core Monitor is a watch-only macOS dashboard for your own Bitcoin Core node. It reads information from your node and displays it. It cannot hold private keys, sign transactions, send funds, or trade.
Data the app stores on your Mac
- Node credentials (RPC username and password) are stored exclusively in the macOS Keychain on your device. They are used only to connect to the Bitcoin node you configure and are never transmitted anywhere else.
- Settings and cached dashboard data (preferences, wallet balance history, cached metrics) are stored locally in the app's sandboxed container. They never leave your Mac.
All of this data stays under your control and is deleted when you remove the app (Keychain items can be removed via Keychain Access).
Network connections the app makes
- Your own Bitcoin node (Bitcoin Core RPC, optionally an ElectrumX server you configure), typically on your local network or over your own VPN. This traffic goes only to servers you choose and control.
- Public price services — CoinGecko and Kraken — are contacted over HTTPS to fetch the Bitcoin market price and price history. These requests contain no wallet data, no addresses, and no personal information. As with any internet request, these providers can technically observe your IP address. Their own privacy policies apply to that connection.
- mempool.space is opened in your browser only if you explicitly click a transaction's "open in explorer" action. The app itself sends nothing to this service.
The app runs no server and opens no listening network sockets. Demo Mode works fully offline and makes no network connections at all.
What the app does not do
- No collection of personal data, usage data, or diagnostics by the developer.
- No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
- No accounts, sign-ups, or cloud services.
- No sharing or selling of data to third parties — the developer never receives any data to share.
Notifications
The app can show local notifications (for example when a tracked event occurs). These are generated entirely on your Mac. Notification permission is optional and managed in macOS System Settings.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app changes any of the above, this policy will be updated and the "last updated" date revised before that version is released.
